PenFed Credit Union in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking a Manager, Decision Science to oversee credit risk models for loan origination, pricing, and portfolio management. You will manage a small data science team and coordinate with business partners to align modeling solutions with strategic goals.

The role requires a Master’s degree (PhD preferred), 8+ years of modeling experience, and 3+ years in supervision. It offers a hybrid work model and a competitive salary with performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field; PhD is highly preferred.
• 8+ years in building statistical models and advanced data analysis.
• 3+ years of supervisory or assistant management experience.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and R; strong modeling expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management in developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to ensure mission and core values are implemented.
• Independently develop statistical models and scorecards used in credit underwriting, loan pricing, collection, and portfolio risk monitoring.
• Translate business problems to statistical problems and leverage machine learning to solve them.
• Lead ad hoc analyses and deep dives to understand business drivers.
• Monitor model performance and support governance and validation activities.
• Identify, measure, and monitor credit risk related to M&A, loan purchases, and new strategies.
• Improve risk identification and management for credit risk modeling activities.
• Maintain an efficient infrastructure for model development, documentation, implementation, and validation.
• Promote innovative data visualization and digestion of complex data.
• Collaborate across teams to drive organizational efficiency.
