Job summary

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks a full-time non-tenure Open Rank Professor and Director of Mobile Dentistry. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the mobile dental program, overseeing services that expand access to care and support educational missions.

The Director ensures quality and compliance, integrates mobile experiences into education, and supervises staff and learners. Candidates must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent, along with eligibility for a Tennessee Dental License.

Qualifications

• Advanced training and/or degree (e.g., MPH, MBA, MS) or significant clinical experience.
• Experience supervising learners (dental students/residents).
• Experience in community-based clinical education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi-year vision for mobile dentistry aligned with the mission.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of mobile units, including scheduling and supply chain.
• Coordinate mobile clinic staffing models (faculty, residents, students, hygienists).
• Build and sustain partnerships with schools and health organizations.
• Establish annual goals, service priorities, and performance metrics.

Education

DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution

Tennessee Dental License (license or license-eligible)
