Faith Aid is seeking a relationship-driven advancement leader in Leesburg, VA to be its primary full-time advancement professional. You will cultivate donors and churches, travel to meet them, make significant asks, and partner with the Executive Director to turn relationships into lasting partnerships that advance Faith Aid's mission.
Over time, you will help build an advancement department around this leader.
Faith Aid is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit with a mission of caring for the sick and suffering in Jesus' name. We partner with mission hospitals in Kenya to help care for vulnerable patients and families through Mustard Seed House and Health Access for the Least (HEAL).
Mustard Seed Houses provide Christian hospitality, meals, practical care, prayer, and opportunities to hear the Gospel for patients and caregivers receiving treatment at mission hospitals. Through HEAL, Faith Aid helps mission hospitals and physicians provide medical care to patients who otherwise could not afford it, with particular initiatives serving children and families affected by rheumatic heart disease, reconstructive surgical needs, and malnutrition.
Faith Aid is growing quickly, and we are looking for a relationship-driven advancement leader to help lead our next chapter.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage an established fundraising department. Initially, you will be Faith Aid's primary full-time advancement professional. You will personally cultivate donors and churches, travel to meet them, make significant asks, follow up thoughtfully and consistently, tell compelling stories, and work closely with the Executive Director to turn relationships into lasting partnerships that advance the ministry.
Over time, our intention is to build a robust advancement department around this leader. The immediate priority, however, is relationships - with individuals, families, churches, foundations, and other partners who want to participate in Faith Aid's mission.
We are less interested in a particular career path than in evidence that you can build relationships, inspire generosity, and get results. Strong candidates may come from nonprofit advancement, Christian ministry, sales, business development, entrepreneurship, financial services, consulting, higher education advancement, church engagement, or another relationship-driven profession.
Relational. You genuinely enjoy people. You listen well, remember what matters to them, and build trust over time.
Bold. You are comfortable inviting individuals, families, churches, and other partners to make meaningful financial commitments. You do not confuse relationship-building with avoiding the ask.
Entrepreneurial. You do not need a large department or a detailed playbook before getting started. You see opportunity, take initiative, and build what is needed.
Disciplined. You follow up. You keep commitments. You understand that excellent fundraising requires both warmth and execution.
Compassionate. You care deeply about the healthcare needs of the poor and vulnerable and are moved by the suffering of patients and families who lack access to needed care.
Hands-on. At Faith Aid, no one is separated from the work of ministry. You are willing to serve wherever needed and do not view any task as beneath you.
A builder. You are excited to be the first dedicated advancement leader in a growing organization and, over time, to build a team capable of taking Faith Aid much further.
Tech-savvy. You are ready and willing to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools as a force multiplier.
Faith Aid is an explicitly Christian ministry rooted in the historic Christian faith and the authority of Scripture. The Director of Mission Advancement must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, affirm Faith Aid's Christian mission, and actively participate in a local church. We work across denominational traditions with Christians who share the historic Christian faith.
Our team seeks to approach every responsibility — whether meeting with a donor, speaking at a church, serving a meal, praying with a family, visiting a patient, or completing administrative work — "as unto the Lord."
This role is more than a fundraising position. We are looking for someone who sees generosity, stewardship, church partnership, Gospel witness, compassionate healthcare, and service to the vulnerable as expressions of Christian ministry.
