Job Summary


The Director of MEP, Infrastructure & Mission Critical Business Development is responsible for leading and executing JRM's growth strategy within the MEP building infrastructure, and light data center mission critical construction sectors across the New York Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT, and beyond). This role focuses on developing new client relationships, strengthening existing partnerships, and identifying opportunities that align with JRM's strategic growth goals, with an emphasis on direct engagement with end users, developers, owners, and other industry partners. This role serves as a key leader within the business development team and works closely with executive leadership, operations, preconstruction, and marketing to expand JRM's presence in these sectors.


The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, strategic, relationship-oriented, and possesses a strong understanding of the MEP, building infrastructure, and mission critical construction landscape, including data center.


Role & Responsibilities


Business Development & Client Strategy



  • Lead business development initiatives focused on MEP, infrastructure, and mission critical projects to support company growth objectives

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with end users, developers, owners, engineers, , and industry partners, prioritizing direct outreach

  • Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective opportunities across the NY Tri-State market

  • Monitor pre-lease and pre-construction signals, including capital raises, facility expansions, headcount growth, and site selection activity, to identify early-stage prospects

  • Drive strategic outreach efforts and maintain regular engagement with target clients and partners

  • Support pursuit strategies for key opportunities, including interviews, presentations, proposals, and client events

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop account strategies for priority clients and targeted market sectors


Market Leadership



  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging developments within the MEP, infrastructure, and mission critical sectors

  • Maintain awareness of industry shifts, expansion activity, and market conditions across NY, NJ, and CT, metro area.

  • Represent JRM at industry organizations, networking events, conferences, and client functions

  • Help strengthen JRM's visibility and reputation within the MEP, infrastructure, and light mission critical market sectors


Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Work closely with operations and preconstruction teams to align business development efforts with operational goals and project pursuits

  • Support leadership in developing strategic growth plans and annual business development goals


Reporting & Performance



  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting within CRM systems

  • Provide regular updates to business development activity, market intelligence, and opportunity forecasting

  • Track client engagement efforts and pursuit outcomes to support continuous improvement initiatives


Qualifications



  • 7-10+ years of experience in business development, client relations, construction, engineering, or related industry experience, with exposure to MEP, infrastructure, or mission critical work preferred

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, building infrastructure construction, and light mission critical (e.g., data center,) buildout processes

  • Existing relationships within the MEP, infrastructure, or mission critical industry across the NY Tri-State area preferred

  • Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business opportunities through direct end-user engagement

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized with strong strategic planning and time management abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and leadership levels

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and presentation software

Salary InformationTo the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary range for this role is $170,000-$225,000.
