Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Medical Staff Services is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing the Medical Staff Services Department, including physician and allied health credentialing, meeting management, and information flow from medical staff committees through the Medical Staff Executive Committee to the Governing Board. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the Accredited Joint Continuing Medical Education program and the Medical Library.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Maintain current knowledge of standards from The Joint Commission, California Title XXII regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, NCQA, and other relevant regulations. Assist in preparing for accreditation and licensing surveys related to Medical Staff functions.
  2. Supervise, delegate, and coordinate the work of the Medical Staff Services Department, Joint Continuing Medical Education Coordinator, and Medical Library staff.
  3. Work independently, adhering to hospital policies, practices, procedures, and professional standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health-related field preferred.
  • Current NAMSS CPCS and/or CPMSM certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Medical Staff Services in a management or supervisory role.
