Job description

Our client is an established, privately held plastics materials company with a manufacturing operation in the Houston, Texas area. The business provides customized thermoplastic material solutions through blending, formulation and reprocessing. The operation is profitable today with meaningful available capacity, creating a strong platform for continued growth.

What Will You Do?

As Director of Manufacturing, you will lead the financial, operational and organizational performance of the Houston-area manufacturing operation. You’ll work with an experienced plant team to improve performance, strengthen operating discipline and position the business for significant growth.

  • Own P&L and overall plant performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
  • Lead and develop the manufacturing organization while strengthening accountability and operating discipline.
  • Drive continuous improvement, capacity utilization, equipment reliability and manufacturing cost reduction.
  • Improve KPIs, data collection, technology and automation used to manage the operation.
  • Partner with corporate functions and build strong plant-to-plant relationships with key customers.
What Are the Hiring Criteria?
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L, budgeting and cost management.
  • Process-manufacturing background; thermoplastics experience strongly preferred, particularly extrusion, compounding or blending.
  • Demonstrated success improving manufacturing performance through KPIs and continuous improvement.
  • Strong people leadership and experience developing teams and leading change.
  • Practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically.
  • Must reside in or relocate to the Houston, Texas area; relocation assistance is available.
Why Is This a Good Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to take leadership of a profitable manufacturing business with substantial growth potential - not a turnaround. The operation has an experienced team, available capacity and numerous opportunities to improve productivity, technology, operating systems and profitability.

For a manufacturing leader ready to move into broader general management, the role offers responsibility for the P&L, operations, people and growth strategy, with the potential for expanded responsibility as the business grows.
