Director, Management & Professional Liability Claims

Join Our Team

You will be the Director, Management and Professional Liability Claims. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of Management and Professional Liability claims activities, settlement processing, and investigation of reported claims, ensuring compliance with contract terms, best practices, regulatory requirements, and company policies for SiriusPoint’s North American MGU and Programs group. You will also manage claim handling for Bermuda-based MGA and Programs.

This newly created role is vital as SiriusPoint advances its claims function aligned with our strategic journey. You will bring technical expertise and experience handling diverse MGU and Programs underwriting Management and Professional Liability portfolios. You will report directly to the Head of Claims for MGU and Programs Claims.

Your Responsibilities

1. Provide oversight and claims advocacy for Management and Professional Liability excess claims, managing in-house MGA or Programs claims teams or Third-Party Administrators.
2. Analyze forms, policies, endorsements, and instructions to validate coverage.
3. Manage litigation claims with a focus on reputational risk and bad faith prevention, including fast-paced negotiations.
4. Approve claims within authority, company rules, and regulatory requirements.
5. Advise on claims trends and loss mitigation strategies across various departments.
6. Ensure reserve accuracy and coverage assessment, articulating reserving practices and analysis.
7. Maintain relationships with MGA and Program partners, brokers, ceding companies, lawyers, and loss adjusters.
8. Uphold fair and professional customer interactions.
9. Handle D&O work for public/private corporations and non-profits.
10. Occasional travel within US and internationally.
11. Perform other duties as required.

Candidate Profile

• 7-10 years’ experience handling Management and Professional Liability claims with authority of USD $250k or more.
• Deep knowledge of the insurance claims process.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently and collaborate across departments.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• J.D. degree from an accredited university; licensed attorneys with claims experience are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
