The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a dedicated and strategic Director of Major & Planned Gifts to help advance our mission through the cultivation of transformational donor relationships. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this position plays a key role in securing major and planned gifts that support the Y’s long-term vision and community impact. This position will focus on securing gifts from YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas members, donors, and employees, as well as growing and stewarding the Heritage Club Society recognition group. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop a strong working knowledge of YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas funding priorities and campaign objectives to articulate a compelling case for support.
- Manage a portfolio of 150 prospects and generate 10-15 prospect visits per month, leading to increased major, planned, and blended gift solicitations.
- Represent the Y in various circumstances, including meetings with funders, staff, volunteers, and networking events.
- Introduce planned giving options, including bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts.
- Assist donors in making charitable decisions, including proposals and illustrating planned giving concepts, working with donor advisors.
- Collaborate with development staff to build proposals and stewardship activities aligned with donor interests.
- Build and nurture effective working relationships with administrative leadership, branch leadership, and volunteers.
- Identify, recruit, and train volunteer leaders to extend staff efforts in cultivating and soliciting prospective donors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or marketing, and seven (7) years of fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful track record in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned gifts ($50,000 and above) preferred.
- Proficiency in constituent relationship management (CRM) systems for planning and tracking activities.
- Experience initiating planned giving conversations, discussing gifts of assets, securities, and developing long-term relationships with planned giving donors.
- Strong skills in creating compelling written and oral communications for fundraising purposes.
- Proactive and creative problem-solver, able to work independently and collaboratively to develop relationships and achieve results.
- Understanding of fundraising best practices in annual campaigns, direct response, special events, and volunteer engagement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management databases.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and deadline adherence.

- Adherence to all policies and procedures of the Development Department and YMCA.
- Effective communication with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
