Jawonio Foundation seeks a Director of Development / Major Gifts to lead comprehensive fundraising strategies for major gifts, annual drives, planned giving, and donor engagement to advance Jawonio's mission in New City, NY.

The role partners with the Foundation Board and executive leadership, guiding communications, events, and donor stewardship while building strong relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 5–7 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience.
• Proven track record of soliciting major gifts ($10,000+) or willingness to learn.
• Proficiency with CRM platforms and donor management databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge).
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Strategic mindset with strong organizational and project management.
• Deep alignment with Jawonio's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Design a strategic fundraising plan for major gifts, annual drives, and capital campaigns.
• Execute the plan with Foundation staff and contracted event planner.
• Lead comprehensive fundraising initiatives and donor stewardship.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective major gift donors and recurring donors.
• Involve board members and senior executives in donor cultivation.
• Lead annual giving, planned giving programs, and capital campaigns as needed.
• Craft donor messaging that communicates the impact of support.
• Coordinate with external event planning and attend Jawonio events.
• Supervise donor database operations, gift processing, and acknowledgments.
• Provide progress reports on donor engagement and revenue at board meetings.
