East Mississippi State Hospital is a state-operated psychiatric facility under the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, providing comprehensive inpatient and residential mental health services to individuals across the region. EMSH serves a diverse population through a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes safety, quality care, and recovery-focused treatment. In addition to psychiatric services, the hospital supports multiple programs and facilities dedicated to meeting the complex clinical and operational needs of those we serve, while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, organization, and project-management skills, along with the ability to coordinate construction, maintenance, contractors, staff, budgets, and facility priorities. The Director must communicate effectively, make sound operational decisions, and ensure projects and maintenance activities are completed safely, timely, and within established requirements. Success also depends on clear communication with hospital leadership and departments, effective supervision and accountability of staff, and sound fiscal judgment—especially when estimating costs, managing resources, and coordinating purchases and contracts in collaboration with Business Services.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of professional experience in the administration of construction projects.
