The Director of Litigation Strategy is a senior-level role that combines litigation expertise with a client-focused, sales-oriented approach to strengthen and expand our business. This role is pivotal in developing effective case narratives, providing strategic trial recommendations, and fostering client trust while showcasing our firm’s value. The Director will lead a team of litigation strategists, mentor team members, and work collaboratively across departments to ensure the delivery of exceptional client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Case Assessment and Strategy Development
- Conduct in-depth client consultations to intake cases and recommend the most effective strategies
- Analyze case strengths, weaknesses, and potential legal arguments to formulate comprehensive trial strategies.
- Provide creative recommendations to support impactful trial narratives and client objectives.
Client Engagement and Business Development
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, demonstrating confidence, professionalism, and expertise to build long-term relationships.
- Actively promote the firm’s services and identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell solutions.
- Deliver persuasive presentations and establish credibility with high-profile clients to drive repeat business.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of litigation strategists, ensuring their growth and alignment with the firm’s goals.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor project progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Oversee the quality of written work, demonstrative aids, and other client deliverables to ensure excellence.
- Partner closely with the Graphics and Research teams to create cohesive, visually compelling, and research-supported trial materials.
- Provide strategic guidance throughout the lifecycle of cases, ensuring a unified approach.
Case Monitoring and Reporting
- Oversee active litigation matters, ensuring adherence to timelines, procedural requirements, and court deadlines.
- Prepare detailed updates and reports for senior management and clients on case progress, key developments, and strategic implications.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation
- Collaborate with finance to develop and manage litigation budgets, including cost estimation and resource allocation.
- Monitor litigation expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional client-facing skills
- Strong writing and communication abilities, including experience drafting motions and persuasive legal documents.
- Creativity in developing trial strategies and visual presentations.
- Proven experience selecting juries, with or without a consultant.
- Comfort presenting to focus groups and engaging with diverse audiences.
- Ability to balance litigation expertise with a sales-oriented mindset to promote and grow the business.
Education and Experience Requirements
- JD with 8+ years of experience as counsel or senior associate in litigation.
- Previous experience as a litigation strategist, including developing trial strategies and working directly with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams.
- Strong client interaction history, with confidence in presenting and selling services.
