Job summary

Nazareth School in San Diego seeks a Learning Support Director to oversee and coordinate programs for students with diverse learning needs. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Principal and collaborates with teachers, parents, and staff to promote academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Responsibilities include developing ILPs, guiding instructional strategies, coordinating accommodations, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IDEA and inclusion practices.
• Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching.
• Understanding of child development and how to relate to students.
• Appropriate classroom management and discipline techniques.

Responsibilities

• Implement a comprehensive learning support program aligned with the school’s mission and student needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to identify students needing support and develop ILPs.
• Provide guidance to teachers on instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications for diverse learners.
• Coordinate accommodations and support services, such as extra time on assessments and assistive technology.
• Advocate for students with learning differences across classroom and school settings.
• Assist with assessments to identify strengths, challenges, and progress to guide planning.
• Communicate progress with parents and provide resources for supporting learning at home.
• Work with support staff to address social and emotional needs of students.
