Job summary

Cumberland County Government Maine seeks a seasoned Jail Administrator to lead security operations at the Cumberland County Jail, directing, managing, administering, operating and controlling all security activities in compliance with Maine law and ACA standards.

This full-time role offers a comprehensive benefits package. Pay ranges from $38.61 to $47.05 per hour, with starting pay based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related experience preferred.
• Minimum five years in supervisory corrections management.
• Accreditation and compliance experience preferred.
• Valid Maine driver’s license.
• Successful completion of Maine CJ Academy Basic Corrections or waiver.
• LEPS Certification within the first year of employment.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security, and discipline of inmates; monitor security threats.
• Ensure compliance with Maine law and accreditation standards.
• Develop staffing plans for jail security and supervision.
• Oversee offender transfer, bed management, and housing units.
• Supervise custody staff; provide annual training.
• Monitor daily facility activities and conduct audits.
• Review facility operations and respond to inmate grievances.
• Direct use of force reviews and CERT activation.
• Oversee inmate visits and facility entrances procedures.
• Lead security improvements and budget oversight.
