Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Investor Relations, to join Ashland Inc. business. This is a remote position ideally located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic US. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Finance function. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
This critical role will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing Ashland’s investor relations strategy, ensuring transparent and effective communication between the company and its shareholders, the broader investment community, and financial analysts. As the leader of the Investor Relations function, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping Ashland's narrative and ensuring a fair valuation of the company's stock.
The ideal candidate is a highly strategic and results-oriented professional who possesses a deep understanding of financial markets, corporate finance, and investor relations best practices. This role demands a powerful combination of sophisticated analytical capabilities, including detailed financial modeling and trend identification, alongside impeccable communication skills to effectively articulate Ashland's value proposition to a diverse range of stakeholders, from global investors to the Board.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive investor relations program aligned with Ashland’s corporate strategy and financial objectives. This includes crafting key messaging, identifying target investors, and optimizing communication channels.
- Investor & Analyst Engagement: Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, sell-side and buy-side analysts, and other financial stakeholders. Organize and participate in investor meetings, roadshows, conferences, and earnings calls.
- Capital Markets Events Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and follow-up for key capital markets events, such as investor days and innovation days, ensuring compelling content and seamless delivery to the investment community.
- Financial Communication: Serve as a primary spokesperson for financial matters, effectively communicating Ashland's financial performance, strategic initiatives, and long-term outlook to the investment community.
- In-depth Financial Analysis & Modeling: Independently perform detailed financial analysis and build robust financial models to support investor presentations, earnings call scripts, and internal strategic discussions. Proactively identify and analyze key financial trends, drivers, and emerging risks and opportunities within Ashland's results and the broader market.
- Market Intelligence & Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor performance, and investor perceptions. Provide insightful feedback to senior management on investor sentiment, market dynamics, and potential implications for Ashland.
- Earnings & Reporting: Lead the preparation and review of earnings releases, investor presentations, Q&A documents, and other financial disclosures, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes meticulous attention to detail while maintaining a clear, compelling narrative.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the executive leadership team, finance, legal, corporate communications, and other internal departments to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in investor relations, equity research, corporate finance, strategic marketing or a related field, preferably within a publicly traded company.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully managing investor relations programs and building strong relationships with the investment community.
- Proven experience in leading and executing successful capital markets events (e.g., Investor Days, Innovation Days).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence and confidence to articulate complex financial information to sophisticated audiences (investors, board, executive team) and the ability to simplify it for broader understanding.
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with proven advanced financial modeling skills and the ability to interpret financial statements, understand valuation methodologies, and derive actionable insights from complex data.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and articulate key financial trends and their strategic implications, showcasing both a meticulous approach to data and a strong strategic perspective.
- In-depth knowledge of capital markets, securities regulations, and corporate governance.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proficiency in investor relations software and financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, IR Insight CRM, AlphaSense, S&P, etc).
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally more than 25% of the time.
