Description:

Lincoln Surgical Hospital is an innovative healthcare leader in providing exceptional surgical services to our patients. Our dedicated physicians and staff strive to achieve optimal surgical outcomes in a patient focused atmosphere.

We are looking for a patient focused Registered Nurse to join our team as the leader of the Inpatient and Outpatient departments.

As the Director of Inpatient and Outpatient you will be responsible for the provision of quality patient services, operational effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of safe patient care. This includes overall 24-hour management responsibility for operating the Inpatient and Outpatient departments including program planning, revenue generation, operational analysis, financial analysis, problem resolution, personnel management and performance improvement.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Directs the assigned departments and delegates authority/responsibility to meet goals.
  • Ensures the supervision of timely and competent provision of patient admission and assessments, patient care coordination, clinical monitoring services, 24 hour on-call, fulfillment of all required documentation activities; assessing and providing equipment and supplies to patients, and any other functions necessary to provide patient care.
  • Verify that inpatient and outpatient personnel provide safe and effective patient care.
  • Assist the Chief Clinical Officer in participating in certification, accreditation, and audit procedures, keeping abreast of local and state laws affecting clinical professional practice and industry regulations.
  • Prepares, monitors and evaluates operating and capital budget for department services. Monitors on-going revenue and expenses for department services. Submits financial reports as required. Works collaboratively with others members of the management team in providing cost-effective and efficient operations. Works collaboratively with the Director of Finance to ensure processes/procedures related to billing, reimbursement, case management and other third party payer requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Provides directions, coaching and mentoring to the department supervisors and assists in annual performance review of staff when needed.
  • Performs traditional nursing duties when necessary.
  • Establishes and implements processes to assure the integration/coordination of all disciplines in providing day to day patient care services.
  • Development and follow through on QI/QA initiatives.
  • Supervisor responsibilities include the selection and hiring of staff in coordination with Human Resources, training, scheduling, assigning work, conducting performance appraisals, initiating corrective action, terminating, coaching, and staff development.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies, objectives, goals, processes, and procedures.
Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice in the State of Nebraska, BSN/BS or BA. Current licensure from a compact state requires Nebraska to be declared as their primary state of residence within thirty (30) days and must also obtain a Nebraska temporary permit or nursing license. Current BLS required at the time of hire. Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of employment.

Experience in a hospital clinical area preferably in an inpatient and/or outpatient surgical area. Leadership experience preferred.
