The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) seeks a full-time, Chicago-based Innovation leadership role within the Exploration team. You will drive donor-funded ministry development, including 100 new ministries by early 2031, collaborating with multiple ELCA units to scale innovative models.

The position is hybrid, based in Chicago, requiring in-office presence 2 days/week and occasional travel. Remote eligibility depends on residence and budget considerations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years directing a large program in ministry or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn ELCA structure, polity and theology.
• Proven leadership with adaptive and human-centered design skills.
• Experience launching or supporting new ministries or initiatives.
• Strong communication and public speaking abilities.
• Ability to coach and lead other leaders.
• Facilitation and relationship-building across teams and partners.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism.
• Technical competency with Windows and common software tools (Office, etc.).

Responsabilités

• Oversee development of 100 new ministries by 1/31/31.
• Lead cross-team collaboration within Innovation and churchwide partners.
• Manage grants program to ensure quality proposals and testing.
• Align ministry experiments with recruitment, formation and coaching.
• Develop a communication plan to share learning and progress.
• Maintain regular contact with new ministries and partners for support.
• Improve support systems for emerging ministries and resources.
• Explore new ministry models with leadership to guide testing.
• Evaluate aspects of ministries for viability and scaling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
