The Information Technology Department provides Citywide technology leadership, services, and support to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient operations across all City departments. The Department provides expert professional assistance and guidance to the City Manager and departments on technology strategy, long-term initiatives and investments, and the use of technology to address operational needs and challenges. Key areas of responsibility include business and public safety applications, network and telecommunications infrastructure, cybersecurity and data management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and centralized technical support.
The Director of Information Technology (U) is a key member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership and direction for the City’s technology operations and initiatives. The Director oversees the Information Technology Department and ensures the delivery of secure, reliable, and effective technology services that support Citywide operations. Key areas of responsibility include:

The ideal candidate for Director of Information Technology (U) is a strategic and collaborative leader with a strong administrative background and extensive knowledge of information technology systems. They will bring a clear vision for the department, and a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver complex technology projects on schedule.
Key qualities include:
Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, business administration, or a closely related field; and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible information technology experience, at least four (4) of which were in a management capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in a governmental setting is preferred.
A valid California driver’s license is required.
Employees work under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear, both in person and by telephone, use hands to manipulate, handle, and feel computers and standard business equipment, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
