The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT seeks an Associate Director of Exhibits to lead permanent and temporary exhibits, shape narratives, and manage content and teams within the Brand Experience function.

Reporting to the Creative Director, you will guide exhibit research, design oversight, budgets for a team of 4 direct reports, and collaboration with education staff to create engaging guest experiences that reflect the Aquarium’s mission.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in exhibition design, industrial design, architecture or related design field.
• 5–7 years in exhibit design at aquarium, zoo, museum, or related organization.
• Experience leading exhibit design processes at an aquarium, zoo, or museum.
• Experience working under pressure and managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Mansioni

• Support the Creative Director in establishing exhibit vision, plans and coordinating exhibits from concept through evaluation.
• Manage the Exhibits Budget and a team of 4 direct reports and consultants as needed.
• Collect and organize content with sources and media; collaborate with interpretive content designers and education staff.
• Collaborate with Creative Director on big ideas, content/message and environmental design.
• Research media for exhibit interpretation and manage rights and licenses.
• Oversee credits and acknowledgements in exhibit materials and technology integrations.
• Identify outside experts and agencies for exhibit design and experience.
• Oversee editorial reviews and proofreading of exhibit elements.
• Coordinate external and internal partners during design and build processes.
• Organize audience/exhibit evaluations and apply findings to future projects.
• Monitor guest experience and oversee repairs/enhancements to exhibits.
• Integrate the brand vision within exhibit interpretation across the organization.
