Job description

Director of Growth / Value-Based Care (VBC)
Director of Growth / Value-Based Care (VBC)

The current delivery model for mental health care is broken in this country. PsychPlus set out on a mission to reimagine how mental health care is delivered to every American. Our goal is to provide a digital-first, modern approach to psychiatry and therapy. We provide care both in-person at our offices across Texas and virtually so our patients can be seen at their convenience.

Through a combination of exceptional medical and psychological care and best-in-class technology, we provide an unparalleled approach that serves our patients’ needs in an integrated way. Join us in our mission to ensure that every person has access to affordable and accessible mental health care.

About the Role

PsychPlus is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Growth / Value-Based Care (VBC) to accelerate our expansion through value-driven partnerships. This leadership role will focus on scaling our mental health services through value-based care contracts, direct employer relationships (particularly self-insured employers), payors, and health systems. You will lead initiatives that expand access to high-quality mental health services while aligning with value-based outcomes and cost containment goals. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to shape and execute on a VBC-forward growth strategy that supports our business objectives and clinical mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Value-Based Care Strategy: Lead the development and execution of VBC strategy, including identifying and negotiating VBC-aligned contracts with payors, provider networks, and employers.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain high-impact partnerships with self-insured employers, benefit consultants, payors, and health plans to expand our footprint.
  • Market Development: Conduct research to identify new VBC opportunities and employer channels to drive patient acquisition and sustainable reimbursement models.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with clinical, operations, marketing, finance, and product teams to align growth strategies with operational and clinical goals.
  • Sales Enablement: Drive middle- and bottom-of-funnel activities, including proposal creation, pricing strategy, deal structuring, contract negotiation, and execution.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a thought partner to key external stakeholders and subject matter expert in value-based mental health care.
  • Analytics & Outcomes Measurement: Define, track, and analyze metrics including patient outcomes, cost savings, and member acquisition economics (e.g., LTV:CAC).
  • Thought Leadership: Represent PsychPlus in relevant industry forums and work to establish the organization as a leader in value-based behavioral health.

Requirements

  • Proven success in a growth, business development, or strategy role within a healthcare or health tech company, ideally in a B2B2C or VBC-aligned environment.
  • Experience structuring and managing value-based care contracts or alternative payment models (APMs).
  • Strong network within the self-insured employer, payor, or healthcare consulting ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations, build trust with external stakeholders, and close high-value deals.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling and outcomes measurement in healthcare delivery.
  • Track record of working with cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for behavioral health, patient outcomes, and health equity.
  • Experience in commercial strategy or growth roles in mental health or behavioral health organizations.
  • Understanding of employer benefit design, care navigation, or employee wellness ecosystems.
  • Background in health plan contracting, provider networks, or managed care.
  • MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent experience preferred but not required.

Our goals are to find the best, attract the best, and offer a competitive salary—which is why we prioritize the quality of the hire over the number of hires. We offer zero-stress medical, dental, and vision coverage, competitive salaries, and a generous PTO policy. We are excited to tell you about a few "perks” we offer that are unique to Psychplus. We’ve spent time thinking through what it means to be a modern mental health company and how we can better align these additional perks with our mission and values.
