Job summary

Americans for Prosperity (AFP), part of Stand Together, seeks a Director of Grassroots Operations to lead statewide grassroots efforts in Texas. You will recruit, coach, and manage a field team, develop scalable tactics, and oversee data strategy for advocacy campaigns.

The role focuses on events, canvassing, and policy engagement in a fast-paced field environment. The position requires travel ~25% and offers competitive compensation with potential bonus, within the Stand Together ecosystem.

TheDirector of Grassroots Operations (DOGO)is a senior leader on the state leadership team responsible for building, scaling, andoptimizingAFP’s grassroots field capabilityandplays a critical part in developing talent, executing grassroots strategy, and driving community impact.

Youare a people leader andoversee the full grassroots talent lifecycle—from recruiting and onboarding to coaching, performance management, and long-term development—while ensuring your team delivers high-impact results across events, volunteer activation, and policy engagement.

This role will be working in the field and be based in Texas.

How You Will Contribute:

• Design and execute statewide grassroots strategieesto advancealignedpublicpolicy and deliver measurable outcomes across key priority initiatives
• Lead,coach, and supervisea multi-layered grassroots teamand ensure field activities (events, canvassing, outreach) are legally compliant and operationally sound
• Help your team develop theirindividualabilities and strengths that can make a meaningful impact for theorganization
• Develop a portfolio of field tactics to drive volunteer engagement, advocacy, and community impact
• Ownthedata strategy for grassroots execution, including voter/advocate universe creation and targetingwhile also ensuring data integrity
• Partner with internal teams (Electoral Strategy, Policy, Strategy & Operations,Education &Training), vendors, and coalition partnersto align grassroots efforts with broader organizationalgoalsand nationalefforts
• Partner with leadership to deliver measurable outcomes across key priority initiatives
• Collaborate with data and implementation teams to support targeting, reporting, and field execution
• Own the full field employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, development, and offboardingand build andmaintaina strong hiring pipeline across grassroots roles within your state
• Drive adoption andproficiencyof internal knowledge systems (expense management, CRM, grassroots tools)

• A deep understanding of the local, state, and national electoral and public policy landscape, the legislative process, and grassroots communities
• Comfort working with data systems, reportingtools,andperformance tracking
• Experience working with CRM’s and/or voter management systems like i360
• Comfort and confidence working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment independent of direct supervision or direction. We needa go-getterwho can figure out how to overcome new and unique challenges!
• The ability to travel at least 25% of the time and a valid driver’s license.

$65,000 - $90,000 a year

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $65,000–$90,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization.
