Director of Graphic Design & Digital Media

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Digital Media and Licensing, the Director of Graphic Design & Digital Media is a key member of the external relations team. The role involves developing and implementing the university's brand identity across campus, creating engaging digital and motion graphics to promote university events and achievements, and leading the graphics and video staff, including student assistants. The director will serve as the lead designer for all branding needs within the Athletics Department, including facility upgrades, billboards, digital screens, and marketing collateral.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shape the Athletics Department’s brand identity and serve as a strategist, Art Director, and content creator.
  • Provide creative direction for cohesive materials across print, digital, and online platforms.
  • Oversee and define all logo and branding graphics for the Athletics Department.
  • Lead visual identity initiatives and create graphic templates and layouts.
  • Manage and train interns and staff involved in design and social media.
  • Travel with teams for content capture during postseason and special events.
  • Coordinate media day shoots and serve as lead photographer.
  • Develop digital graphics and motion graphics to promote university achievements.
  • Lead creative media strategies for the football program and other sports.
  • Develop a vibrant digital media communications program across platforms, including social media and broadcasts.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of graphic design principles, communication theory, and marketing concepts.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator).
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital media production techniques.
  • Excellent photography skills and ability to operate studio and video equipment.
  • Leadership and staff management skills.
  • Solid writing and editing skills with a focus on English grammar.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, or related field.
  • At least three years of full-time experience with graphic applications and publishing tools.
