Job summary

York College/CUNY is seeking a Director of Sponsored Programs and Research to provide vision and oversight for grant, contract, and awards activities with focus on applied social sciences, business, and public affairs. You will guide proposal development, budgeting, staffing, and facility needs while collaborating across college offices and external partners.

The role reports to the Provost for Academic Affairs and leads a professional staff to advance research opportunities and compliance with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
• Thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Grant and contract management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage, promote, advocate for, and provide guidance for faculty and student research and institutional grants.
• Identify and cultivate cross- and inter-disciplinary areas of faculty research for external funding.
• Inform stakeholders about funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
• Provide expert consultation on complex research issues to leadership, researchers, and students.
• Collaborate with College Office of Development, community partners, and cognate institutions.
• Coordinate with CUNY entities on research development and faculty scholarship enhancement.
• Plan short- and long-term research program priorities with Provost.
• Lead and manage the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research staff.
• Develop and oversee tracking systems for activity, results, and data.
• Provide proposal development and grant writing support including budgeting and facilities needs.
• Identify research collaboration opportunities with industry.
• Oversee indirect cost recoveries.
