Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Director or Manager of Foundation Relations to drive foundation and institutional giving. You will partner with lab leaders, craft fundable cases, and manage donor relationships in a hybrid Berkeley, CA setting.

The role involves building a robust pipeline, drafting proposals, and coordinating with legal and finance to ensure compliant, impactful philanthropy that supports DOE and UC missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and progressive fundraising experience, preferably for science/technical programs.
• Track record securing foundation/corporate grants or equivalents.
• Experience building and growing a foundation or institutional giving program.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Chief Development Officer and Lab leaders to translate research priorities into fundable cases.
• Surface cross‑disciplinary funding opportunities for institutional funders.
• Draft and manage proposals, LOIs, and stewardship reports.
• Coordinate with contracts, finance, and operations to ensure proper fund management.
• Help grow Berkeley Lab Foundation's foundation and institutional giving pipeline.
• Develop donor engagement activities and solicit grants from foundations and corporate programs.
• Build relationships with foundation and corporate giving officers to raise Berkeley Lab's visibility.
• Support compliance with DOE, UC, and IRS regulations in gift and grant agreements.
• Collaborate with UC and partner institutions on fundraising initiatives.
• Contribute to organizational operations, donor visits, events, and materials.
