Job summary

Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County seeks a strategic Director of Foundation Giving to lead a comprehensive planned giving program. You will educate donors, cultivate high-potential prospects, and collaborate with advisors to grow legacy gifts across the Federation.

You will build relationships with attorneys, wealth managers, and accountants, while partnering with the Foundation and Development teams to integrate planned giving into campaigns and overall strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; fundraising certification preferred.
• 5–7 years in nonprofit development, fundraising, planned giving, or estate planning.
• Knowledge of bequests, trusts, donor-advised funds, and other planned giving vehicles.
• Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with donors and professional advisors.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills; manage multiple priorities.
• Experience supervising or managing others.
• Ability to work with staff, lay leaders, donors, attorneys, financial advisors, accountants.
• Knowledge of Jewish communal life is a plus.

The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Foundation Giving to lead the development and growth of a comprehensive planned giving program that inspires donors to create lasting legacies in support of the Federation’s mission and the Jewish community.

This role is about more than securing future gifts. It is about helping individuals and families translate their philanthropic values into meaningful, long-term impact. Through relationship building, donor education, stewardship, and collaboration with professional advisors, you will help donors explore opportunities to create a legacy that extends well beyond their lifetime.

Working closely with the Vice President of Foundation and colleagues across the development team, you will identify and cultivate planned giving prospects, strengthen relationships with legacy donors and professional advisors, and integrate planned giving into the Federation’s broader fundraising strategy.

Role and Impact

As our Director of Foundation Giving, you will serve as a strategic philanthropic advisor, relationship builder, and champion for legacy giving. You will develop individualized strategies for high-potential prospects, manage a portfolio of planned giving donors, cultivate relationships with attorneys, accountants, wealth managers, insurance professionals, and other advisors, and create opportunities for donors and their advisors to learn about the impact of planned giving.

Success in this role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, strong knowledge of charitable giving vehicles, excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with donors, professional advisors, lay leaders, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Planned Giving Strategy & Execution

• Partner with the Vice President of Foundation to design and implement a comprehensive planned giving program, including marketing, donor education, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
• Develop individualized strategies for engaging high-potential prospects and legacy donors.
• Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors.
• Identify opportunities to increase the Federation’s long-term philanthropic resources and assets under management.
• Partner with development colleagues to integrate planned giving into broader fundraising and campaign strategies.
• Educate donors about charitable giving opportunities, including bequests, donor-advised funds, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles.
• Work collaboratively with donors’ attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and other professional advisors to facilitate planned gifts.

Professional Advisory Committee & External Relationships

• Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the Federation’s Professional Advisory Committee, including attorneys, accountants, wealth managers, insurance professionals, and other advisors.
• Develop meaningful engagement opportunities that strengthen relationships between professional advisors and the Federation.
• Plan and execute educational programs, recognition events, briefings, and networking opportunities for professional advisors.
• Oversee the Professional Advisory Committee’s annual campaign portfolio and engagement strategy.
• Identify opportunities to expand the Federation’s network of professional advisors and philanthropic partners.

Donor Education, Stewardship & Recognition

• Support campaign and development teams in donor conversations involving legacy and planned giving.
• Prepare tailored materials, presentations, and resources to support individualized donor conversations.
• Implement coordinated stewardship and recognition strategies for legacy donors.
• Develop educational resources and communications that explain giving options and demonstrate philanthropic impact.
• Ensure timely, thoughtful, and appropriate acknowledgment and recognition of planned giving donors.
• Create meaningful opportunities for legacy donors to remain connected to the Federation and its mission.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

• Collaborate across the Foundation and Development departments to identify planned giving opportunities within existing donor relationships.
• Partner with lay leaders and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and steward prospective legacy donors.
• Participate in donor meetings, community events, educational programs, and Federation initiatives as needed.
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource to colleagues on planned giving strategies and charitable giving vehicles.
• Represent the Federation with professionalism and enthusiasm among donors, advisors, community leaders, and philanthropic partners.

• Bachelor’s degree required; professional fundraising certification is preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, planned giving, estate planning, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of charitable giving vehicles, including bequests, trusts, donor-advised funds, and other planned giving strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with donors and professional advisors.
• Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, relationships, and details.
• Experience supervising or managing others.
• Ability to work effectively with professional staff, lay leaders, donors, attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and other external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of or connection to Jewish communal life is a plus.
• Sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work extended hours as needed for donor meetings, events, and community engagement.
