  • 6+ years of experience in Tier 2, 3, or 4 UAV flight operations.
  • Instructor experience in UAV operations is highly desired.

Job Description:

Reports To: VP of Flight Ops


CHI Aviation is seeking a Director of Flight Operations to join the team.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Establish operating procedures and policies.

  • Manage a team of UAV pilots and contractors in CONUS and OCONUS operations.

  • Responsible for the career development of flight operations personnel.

  • Coordinate and approve test cards for UAV flight testing and demos.

  • Coordinate and request FAA-restricted airspace as necessary.

  • Make recommendations for product quality and reliability.

  • Interact with customers and technical and production staff.

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities.

  • Review schedules and budgets with program managers.

  • Approve project expenses related to the execution of flight operations functions.

  • Influence the overall objectives and long-range goals of the business.

  • Acts as a principal investigator on Accident/Incident review committees.

  • Supervises Unmanned Flight Operations Pilots and Contractors.

  • Other duties as assigned.





Job Requirements:


  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Tier 2,3 or 4 UAV flight operations.

  • UAV flying and technical experience are required, and instructor experience is highly desired.

  • Mission Commander (MC) and Air Vehicle Operator (AVO) certifications with Piccolo autopilot are required.

  • OCONUS UAV deployment experience required.

  • Experience and knowledge in OSHA and DCMA procedures and safety requirements.

  • Minimum 2 years of personnel training, evaluating, and supervisory experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of UAV testing experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizen with a current passport.
