Job Description:
A mutual property and casualty insurance companyis seeking Director of Financial Services - Controller to lead its corporate financial services division.This individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will oversee all corporatefinancial and statistical reporting, along with the company's accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and controls for all company financial activities.
  • Oversee preparation of internal and external financial statements, regulatory filings and tax reports.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards, accounting principles, actuarial guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely access as needed.
  • Oversee compilation of annual corporate budget, including production of cost accounting and budget reports.
  • Analyze reinsurance agreements and establishcontrols to ensure accurate accounting for ceded and assumed premiums, lossesand commissions.
  • Support and manage the company's relationships with reinsurers, independent auditors and state auditors.
  • Develop billing and collection procedures in line with company policy, agency agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster professional relationships with external service providers.
  • Oversee resolution of issues related tobilling and commission through collaboration and analysis.
  • Manage relationships with credit card service providers, banks, investment funds and other financial service providers, including performance monitoring and improvement recommendations.
  • Supervise the collection of delinquent accounts using internal resources and external services.
  • Oversee the company's disbursement processes, receivables collection and the placement of directed investments.
  • Establish and maintain controls tosafeguardcorporate financial assets.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Monitor cash flow and identify opportunities for long-term investment; develop and maintain internal forecasting models.
  • Oversee company tax planning and filings.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration
  • 10+ years of related experience, or anequivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in property and casualty insurance, with a strongknowledge of statutory accounting principles
  • 2+ years of reinsurance accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant designation
  • Extensive experience with statutory accounting principles, taxationand audit procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database software tools
