Description

**This position is for our corporate office in Holladay, UT**

Platform Accounting Group is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to build and lead a disciplined, forward-looking FP&A function across a rapidly growing, multi-entity professional services platform. Reporting to the CFO, this leader will own enterprise planning, forecasting, performance management, and decision support. The role will translate financial and operating data into clear actions for executive leadership, business unit leaders, the Board, lenders, and private equity sponsors.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an individual who can establish scalable processes while operating effectively in a fast-paced acquisition environment. The successful candidate will combine strong financial judgment, analytical depth, business partnership, and the ability to drive accountability across decentralized operations.

Who we are:

Platform Accounting Group is a rapidly growing professional services firm providing tax, accounting, assurance, IT consulting, and wealth management services to small and medium-sized businesses and their owners. With more than 50 offices across 15+ states and continued growth ahead, Platform offers a dynamic environment with flexible work arrangements and a strong commitment to professional development and work-life balance.

What you will do:
Enterprise Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Own the annual budget, periodic reforecast, monthly outlook, and long-range financial planning processes, including an integrated income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and parter with the Treasury Team and CFO on the longer-term capital plan.
  • Establish planning calendars, assumptions, templates, review standards, and accountability across business units and functions.
  • Develop driver-based financial models for revenue, utilization, pricing, headcount, compensation, operating expenses, and profitability.
  • Create scenario and sensitivity analyses that quantify risks, opportunities, investment requirements, and potential returns.
  • Maintain a rolling forecast that incorporates current performance, acquisition activity, business trends, and management actions.
Performance Management and Financial Discipline
  • Lead monthly business performance reviews with executive and operating leaders, clearly explaining results, outlook, risks, opportunities, and required actions.
  • Establish a consistent management reporting framework across the enterprise, including actual-to-budget, actual-to-forecast, prior-year, and acquisition case comparisons.
  • Develop and govern KPIs for organic growth, pricing, billable utilization, realization, labor productivity, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital, cash conversion, and return on investment.
  • Drive root-cause variance analysis and translate findings into specific owners, actions, and expected financial impact.
  • Partner with Accounting to improve close-to-report timelines, management reporting accuracy, and reconciliation between operating and financial data.
  • Promote a culture of financial accountability by clarifying performance expectations, decision rights, and follow-through.
Strategic Planning
  • Partner with the CFO and executive team to translate enterprise strategy into financial targets, resource allocation priorities, and measurable value-creation initiatives.
  • Develop business cases and post-investment reviews using cash flow, payback, return on invested capital, and scenario analysis.
  • Support strategic planning with market, competitor, service-line, geographic, customer, and workforce analytics.
  • Provide decision support for pricing, service mix, capacity, hiring, compensation, cost structure, and productivity initiatives.
Private Equity, Board and Lender Support
  • Prepare high-quality financial and operating materials for the Board, private equity sponsors, and lenders, with a clear executive narrative and consistent definitions.
  • Support covenant forecasting, liquidity planning, leverage analysis, debt capacity assessment, and downside scenarios in coordination with the CFO and Treasury Team.
  • Maintain a clear bridge from reported results to management reporting, lender reporting, and sponsor value-creation metrics.
  • Support requests related to financial performance, forecasts, investment cases, and strategic initiatives with timely, accurate, and well-controlled analysis.
M&A and Integration
  • Partner with Corporate Development and business leaders on acquisition modeling, financing assumptions, synergy assessment, and integration planning.
  • Incorporate acquisitions into budgets, forecasts, cash planning, and management reporting, with visibility to stand-alone, pro forma, and consolidated performance.
  • Establish post-close performance tracking against the investment case, including revenue, margin, synergies, working capital, and integration costs.
  • Help standardize financial definitions, planning processes, and reporting across acquired businesses while preserving appropriate local accountability.
Data, Systems and Team Leadership
  • Develop scalable reporting, planning, and analytics capabilities using NetSuite, Adapting Planning and Budgeting, business intelligence tools, and other data sources.
  • Establish data definitions, model governance, version control, and quality checks for key reports and forecasts.
  • Automate recurring reporting and shift FP&A capacity toward insight, decision support, and forward-looking analysis.
  • Build, lead, and develop the FP&A team as the function grows; establish clear roles, operating rhythms, and performance expectations.
  • Build trusted relationships across Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Technology, Corporate Development, and business unit leadership.
What we look for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or other relevant advanced credential preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant FP&A leadership responsibility in a complex, multi-entity organization.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed portfolio company, acquisitive business, or other high-growth environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, management reporting, cash flow forecasting, and executive decision support.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including integrated financial statements, scenario analysis, investment returns, and acquisition models.
  • Experience supporting Boards, private equity sponsors, lenders, and senior executives with concise, decision-oriented analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP financial statements and the ability to partner effectively with Accounting without duplicating controllership responsibilities.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Adaptive preferred; strong Excel and presentation skills required; business intelligence experience is a plus.
  • Professional services, multi-site, or people-based business experience preferred.
Leadership Profile:
  • Enterprise mindset with strong commercial and financial judgment.
  • Ability to move between strategic questions and detailed analysis without losing accuracy or business context.
  • Clear, concise executive communication and the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions.
  • Strong ownership, urgency, organization, and follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across decentralized teams and varying levels of financial maturity.
  • High integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential financial, employee, transaction, and lender information.
Measures of Success:
  • Implement a reliable annual budget, rolling forecast, and long-range planning cadence with clear ownership and assumptions.
  • Establish a standardized monthly performance package and business review process across the platform.
  • Improve forecast accuracy, visibility to cash and liquidity, and early identification of risks and opportunities.
  • Develop an integrated capital plan and repeatable investment evaluation process.
  • Create consistent KPI definitions and reporting across business units and acquired entities.
  • Build effective, trusted partnerships with executive leadership, business leaders, the Board, sponsors, and lenders.
What we offer:
  • Opportunity for advancement within a rapidly growing professional services firm
  • Ongoing informal and formal training and development
