Job summary

Fortis College in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Director of Financial Aid to lead our Financial Aid Department and partner with Admissions, Education, and other departments to support enrollment and student success.

The Director will ensure accurate and timely awarding, maintain compliance with Title IV and related regulations, and develop staff to deliver high-quality service to students navigating financial aid.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive financial aid experience.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Strong Title IV knowledge and understanding of financial aid regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized, motivated and results-driven.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with CampusVue is a plus.
• Must not have any NSLDS restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Department.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and institutional requirements, including Title IV regulations.
• Oversee the accurate and timely awarding and processing of financial aid.
• Supervise, coach, and develop Financial Aid staff.
• Ensure students receive knowledgeable, responsive, and high-quality service.
• Partner with Admissions to support prospective students throughout the financial aid process.
• Collaborate with campus leadership and other departments to support enrollment, student success, and retention.
• Monitor department performance, processes, and internal controls.
• Provide training and guidance on financial aid policies, procedures, and systems.
• Utilize financial aid systems to support packaging, reporting, and compliance requirements.

• Experience with CampusVue is a plus
• Must not have any National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) restrictions

Schedule

This is a full-time professional position reporting to the Campus President. Some evening and Saturday hours may be required based on campus and student needs.
