This role entails leading a dynamic Accounting and Finance team and reporting directly to the Board of Directors, effectively positioning you as the Head of Finance. It's a fantastic chance for accomplished leaders eager to take the helm with a dynamic and well-established firm in the heart of our nation's capital.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage the firm's billing system, support users, and implement electronic billing and special client requests.
- Maintain internal billing rates and fixed fees.
- Communicate with clients about account balances and inquiries.
- Serve as primary contact with banking, initiate wire transfers, sign outgoing checks, manage firm funds, and oversee credit requests and compliance.
- Conduct pension plan enrollment meetings, provide contribution details, coordinate with auditors for the annual pension audit, and handle required filings.
- Attend management and partnership meetings; present monthly financial reports and the annual budget; coordinate multi-office financial information; analyze budget variances.
- Maintain the electronic timekeeping system, integrate with payroll, supervise payroll processing, and oversee tax payments.
- Prepare monthly staff review worksheets and manage partner draw payments, capital balances, and pay-in/pay-out calculations.
- Respond to partner and staff requests for information and employment verification.
- Prepare yen-based financial statements for Japanese tax purposes and assist Tokyo office bookkeeping.
- Provide detailed schedules to external auditors, respond to inquiries, review auditor reports, and file tax returns.
- File Personal Property tax returns and foreign country certification forms with the IRS.
- Respond to Census Bureau surveys on foreign transactions and economic analysis.
- Supervise the accounting department staff and coordinate responses to daily inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 10 + years of experience (Public Accounting + CPA highly preferred)
- Law Firm experience is required
