Job summary

Basata is seeking a Head of Finance in Tempe, AZ to own FP&A, budgeting, and scenario planning end-to-end. You’ll build a KPI framework guiding capital allocation and lead board reporting and investor relations as the company scales.

This senior role requires 7–10 years in venture-backed finance, SaaS experience, and a proven ability to partner with the CEO and cross-functional teams to drive strategic decisions and investor readiness.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of finance experience in a venture-backed startup.
• SaaS finance and metrics experience required; healthcare tech a plus.
• Experience running board and investor reporting and D&O diligence.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's financial model end to end — budget, multi-year forecast, and scenario planning.
• Build and maintain the KPI framework to inform capital allocation decisions.
• Provide data-backed recommendations on pricing, unit economics, and growth bets.
• Lead board reporting and investor relations; prepare monthly/quarterly packages.
• Develop and manage the data room for investor due diligence and fundraising prep.
• Hands-on modeling and SaaS metric deep dives; partner across the org to reflect reality.

About The Role

Basata is bringing on a Head of Finance to be the company's most senior strategic finance voice, reporting directly to the CEO. As we scale, the forward‑looking work — the financial model, the board narrative, the case for what we invest in next — needs a full‑time owner driving it end to end. This role is that seat. You'll own the FP&A model, budget, and scenario planning, build the KPI framework that guides how we allocate capital, and be a key voice in which bets we take to hit our financial goals. You'll also lead board reporting and investor relations, and get us investor‑ready well before future funding rounds, by building the data room and diligence materials proactively. We're looking for someone who is strategic by default but just as comfortable getting into the weeds, who can lead up to the CEO and board as naturally as they lead across the teams whose work feeds their models, and who wants to build the finance function they lead rather than inherit one already built.

What You'll Do

• Own the company's financial model end to end — budget, multi‑year forecast, and scenario planning — and keep it current enough to answer any "what if" the CEO or board asks
• Build and maintain the KPI framework that tracks how the business is actually performing, and use it to inform capital allocation decisions in real time
• Bring proactive, data-backed recommendations on pricing, unit economics, and growth bets
• Serve as a key voice in which bets the business takes to hit its financial goals, partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team on strategic tradeoffs
• Own board reporting and investor relations: prepare and present the monthly/quarterly financial package and manage ongoing investor communication
• Build and manage the data room, diligence prep, and be the primary point of contact for investor and legal questions as we raise future funding
• Get hands‑on when it matters — build the model yourself, dig into the SaaS metrics, and partner across the org so the numbers reflect what's actually happening in the business

What We're Looking For

• 7–10 years of finance experience, with a track record of taking on increasing ownership of FP&A or strategic finance at a venture‑backed startup
• SaaS experience required; healthcare tech a plus
• Has personally run — not just supported — a raise and/or an audit before; understands what investor‑grade diligence actually requires
• Track record owning board and investor reporting independently, not just assembling it for someone else to present
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA a plus, not required
