Job summary

Talent Group in Modesto, CA is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join a growing agricultural organization on-site. This hands-on leadership role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis while partnering with executive leadership.

You’ll lead the accounting team, ensure strong controls, manage monthly closes, and present financials to the Board and owners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience within agricultural farming operations required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting.
• Strong Excel skills and ERP/accounting systems knowledge.
• Ability to lead teams and partner with executive leadership.
• Ability to present financial information to senior leadership, ownership, and Boards.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including AP, AR, Credit & Collections, and Payroll.
• Manage and develop the accounting team while maintaining strong financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee monthly close, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statement accuracy.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for executive leadership, ownership, partners, and banking relationships.
• Lead annual budgeting, including agricultural production costs, crop yield and pricing projections, and cash flow planning.
• Oversee treasury activities, cash flow forecasting, lines of credit, borrowing base reporting, and debt compliance.
• Partner with operations leadership to monitor spending, financial performance, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide financial analysis supporting capital investments, leases, purchasing decisions, pricing, contracts, and growth initiatives.
• Present financial information and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Talent Group is partnering with a well-established and growing agricultural organization in California’s Central Valley to identify an experienced Director of Finance to join its leadership team.

What We’re Looking For
