Job summary

Delano Miami Beach is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the hotel’s financial strategy, reporting, and controls. This role partners with the Executive Committee to ensure profitability and compliance while shaping long-term growth.

The ideal candidate has luxury hotel experience, strong leadership, and fluency in English and Spanish. You will manage cash flow, budgeting, reporting, and team development in a dynamic, guest-focused environment.

Qualifications

• College degree in business, hospitality, accounting/finance or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive Finance/Accounting management in luxury hotel or brand.
• Strong math and algebra skills using percentages.
• Proficient with Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and HRIS systems.
• Hotel opening experience is a plus. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and communicate cash flow issues with timely cash flow statements and proper controls.
• Monitor revenues/expenses and ensure accurate recording per guidelines.
• Create annual budgets and monthly variance analysis.
• Oversee daily hotel operating report production.
• Prepare financial reports to meet deadlines and regulatory needs.
• Investigate variances and provide practical improvement recommendations.
• Assist capital planning, ROIs and scope of work for property upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and licenses.
• Advise management on financial objectives and reconcile balance sheets.
• Lead and develop the Finance team; coach and mentor staff.
• Collaborate with Executive Committee to keep operations on track.

Job Description

What you'll do...

• Manage and communicate cash flow related issues which includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds
• Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with the hotel established guidelines
• Create annual budgets and monthly variance analysis
• Monitor the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report
• Direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with requirements meeting various deadlines
• Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management
• Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with the calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and ensuring proper upkeep of the property by evaluating scope of work and specifications
• Complies with Standard Accounting policies and procedures and internal controls for finance and accounting operations
• Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes
• Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items
• Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliation’s are reconciled on a timely basis
• Embrace a continuous growth environment by actively providing feedback, coaching and supporting the hotel’s operational leader
• Hire, train, supervise and develop Finance team, including coaching and counseling
• Partner with Executive Committee on areas of collaboration to assure that property operations are on track and under control at all times

Qualifications

What we're looking for...

• College Degree in Business, Hospitality, Accounting/Finance or related field preferred
• Minimum of 7 (seven) years of progressive Finance/Accounting management experience in a full-service property, luxury hotel or brand
• Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages.
• A proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & HRIS systems .
• Hotel opening experience strongly preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation.
