Job summary

The University of the District of Columbia invites applications for a full‑time, nine‑month, permanent faculty appointment in Social Work as Director of Field Education for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program within the Division of Behavioral and Applied Health. Start date: January 2, 2027.

Responsibilities include coordinating the BSW field education program, maintaining agency partnerships, supporting accreditation, teaching field courses, and mentoring students to prepare emerging

Qualifications

• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Minimum of two years of post-MS W practice experience.
• Experience teaching undergraduate social work courses or delivering professional training.
• Experience with CSWE accreditation or reaffirmation processes.
• Experience in curriculum design and experiential/field-based teaching methods.
• Licensed (or license-eligible) social work practitioner in DC.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the BSW field education program, including placement processes and field instructor engagement.
• Develop and maintain relationships with field agencies to ensure CSWE-aligned learning experiences.
• Support accreditation efforts, including data collection, assessment reporting, and documentation.
• Develop and maintain field education policies and manuals in line with CSWE standards.
• Lead orientations, trainings, and workshops for students and field instructors.
• Provide guidance to students and agencies to ensure learning agreements and evaluations meet program expectations.
• Teach practice, practicum, or electives within the BSW curriculum as assigned.
• Mentor BSW students regarding professional development and career paths.
• Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development and program improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
