Job summary

The Diocese of Tucson invites applications for a Director of Catechesis and Evangelization. This full-time, exempt role leads the Office of Catechesis and Evangelization, guiding faith formation across parishes and schools, aligned with the Bishop’s vision.

You will oversee program development, certification, curriculum, budget, and diocesan collaborations, ensuring faithful catechesis and sacramental preparation, with commitment to evangelization and lay leadership.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in theology or pastoral ministry
• Three years of leadership experience in catechetical/evangelization programs
• Strong communication and public speaking skills
• Knowledge of theological and liturgical terms
• Experience with parish-based catechesis and evangelization programs
• Proficiency with standard office software

Responsibilities

• Oversee parish catechetical programs for all ages and demographics
• Oversee formation and certification programs for catechists and teachers
• Develop and implement goals for short- and long-term ministry effectiveness
• Collaborate with diocesan departments to integrate goals and programming
• Provide guidance to the Bishop on religious education matters
• Plan and assess sacramental preparation and OCIA programs
• Manage the office budget in collaboration with Finance
• Maintain confidentiality and professional bearing
