Job summary

Barrett Industries seeks a Director of Equipment to lead and optimize the company’s fleet, drive strategic asset procurement, and oversee maintenance and compliance. You will partner with operations, finance, safety, and field leadership to maximize uptime, reduce costs, and support growth.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, strong leadership, and a track record in equipment management and maintenance policy implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Professional fleet management certifications are advantageous.
• Proven experience in equipment management, preferably in construction.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret performance data.
• Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
• Ability to strictly adhere to safety and compliance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Advise in the purchase and maintenance of assets.
• Work with managers to establish long-term equipment investment needs.
• Evaluate whether to replace, repair, rent, or divest equipment.
• Coordinate costs and completion of renovation projects.
• Optimize energy use and cost across the company.
• Manage investment orders and participate in supplier negotiations.
• Advise plant and shop managers on equipment management.
• Contribute to technical, technological, and logistical decisions.
• Consolidate and share performance data through benchmarks and reporting.
• Lead equipment accounting and recordkeeping.
• Promote training and communication throughout the company.
• Perform due diligence of assets involved in acquisitions.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental rules.
• Propose technical solutions to improve safety and compliance.
• Due diligence of assets involved with new acquisitions.
