Job summary

Friends Homes, Inc. is hiring a Director of Environmental Services in Greensboro, NC.

This full-time role leads housekeeping, laundry, and grounds operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality resident services. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Environmental Services, supervisory experience in healthcare or senior living, and knowledge of Life Safety, Infection Control, and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Background in Environmental Services
• Management experience
• Knowledge of Privacy laws, Federal Requirements of Participation as they relate to Life Safety and Infection Control, All Hazard and OSHA Act and regulations
• Minimum of 3–5 years supervisory experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, or Laundry Operations within healthcare, long-term care, hospital, or senior living environments

Responsibilities

• Manage departmental operations within the approved budget while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and inspection-ready environment in compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise housekeeping, laundry, and grounds operations to ensure quality and timely service.
• Monitor departmental performance, maintain records and reports, and ensure compliance with Friends Homes policies and standards.
• Oversee contractor bids and make recommendations to administration.
• Conduct staff meetings and collaborate with other departments to coordinate services.
• Build positive relationships with residents and staff while addressing service quality and concerns.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate employees in accordance with company policies and budget guidelines.
• Provide coaching, professional development, and progressive discipline as needed.
• Ensure proper equipment use and maintenance through training and supervisor accountability.
• Implement improvements that enhance the community environment and resident experience.
• Participate in community committees, professional development opportunities, and the Manager on Duty weekend rotation

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospitality, Environmental Services, or related field.
• Experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Skilled Nursing Facility, or hospital environment
• EVS or Healthcare Housekeeping Certification preferred
