Metropolis is seeking a Director, Engineering Operations & Strategy to own technology strategy, operational leadership, and strategic problem-solving across our engineering organization. You will partner with senior leadership to execute M&A due diligence and manage a multi-million dollar budget while driving scalable, cross-functional initiatives.

You will oversee budgets, vendor relationships, and complex operational programs, delivering clear, data-driven recommendations and ensuring

Qualifications

• 6+ years in high-intensity environments.
• 2+ years hands-on working engineering experience in software or similar engineering roles.
• Proven autonomous strategic leadership with ownership of outcomes.
• Proven ability to influence without authority in complex teams.
• Experience owning budget or resource decisions in high-growth org.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering processes: hiring, onboarding, and training to maintain scalable practices.
• Cut through complex operational challenges to deliver simple, actionable solutions.
• Direct $50M+ P&L budget with resources aligned to corporate objectives.
• Forecast hardware/service spend for vendors (AWS, Twilio) and flag risks/opportunities.
• Lead M&A due diligence and major vendor migrations with senior executives.
• Build leadership alignment across multi-stakeholder groups and move programs forward.
