Summary

The Director of Engineering will lead and oversee the engineering teams dedicated to CGTech’s core products and innovation, tasked with crafting and engineering roadmap that harmonizes with overarching product objectives. This individual will play a key role in defining the technical vision, executing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative software products that meet the needs of Vericut users. The Director will be responsible for building and leading cross-functional engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  1. Engineering Leadership
    • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on the design, development, and optimizing CGTech’s core products.
  2. Strategic Planning & Vision
    • Define and execute the long-term technical vision and engineering roadmap to align with company goals, industry trends, and customer needs. Prioritize and deliver engineering initiatives that drive value for both CGTech and its customers.
    • Develop and execute an engineering roadmap that aligns with CGTech’s broader product goals and strategic vision, while also supporting Sandvik’s strategic initiatives.
    • Implement the strategy following principles of Agile methodology.
  3. Product Development & Optimization:
    • Oversee the development of innovative software products, ensuring they are optimized for performance, scalability, and manufacturability. Ensure solutions meet the highest quality standards while fulfilling customer requirements.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Product Management, quality assurance, and customer support teams to ensure alignment between product roadmaps, customer needs, and engineering execution. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure technical aspects of product offerings align with market demands.
  5. Team Development & Mentorship:
    • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams by fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration. Implement effective recruitment, training, and performance management practices to build and retain top-tier engineering talent.
    • Provide hands-on technical leadership, driving innovation and technical excellence across R&D teams.
  6. Process Improvement & Best Practices:
    • Drive continuous process improvements, utilizing agile methodologies and industry best practices to enhance development efficiency and product quality. Establish rigorous code quality, testing, and release management processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.
    • Keep up to date with the latest AI and Data Engineering trends and apply this expertise to improve team performance and product quality.
  7. Technical Leadership & Problem-Solving:
    • Provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding engineering teams through complex challenges and ensuring high technical standards across product design, development, and testing. Be a trusted resource for solving critical engineering problems.
  8. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Balance competing priorities effectively to ensure resources are optimally allocated across strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5-7+ years of proven experience in engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing and delivering software products.
  • Strong background in software development and engineering, particularly with a focus on optimization algorithms, verification tools, and manufacturing systems.
  • A technical leader who excels at giving feedback and has demonstrated capabilities facilitating team success.
  • Ability to define and execute long-term engineering strategies that align with broader business objectives. Experience in navigating complex technical and business challenges while driving innovation.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong presentation and documentation skills for internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working in agile environments and implementing agile methodologies to optimize development process and ensure timely product delivery.
  • Deep understanding of the manufacturing industry’s challenges and how CGTech’s software solutions can drive operational efficiencies and product innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with common software development tools and technologies (e.g., C++, Java, Python), and experience with scripting languages, debugging, and optimization.
  • Experience with large-scale system architecture and deployment in manufacturing environments.
  • Background in simulation, digital twin technology, or similar manufacturing optimization techniques is a plus.

Supervisory/Work Environment/Physical Demands/Other Conditions

Supervisory Responsibility: This position requires (5+) years of supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Due to the confidentiality of the work, the functions of this position should be performed in a private office location. This role routinely involves office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc.
  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, forty-hours a week, with occasional overtime worked as needed.
