Job description

Director of Engineering & Program Execution

Imagen Energy is a US-based technology company developing high-power, grid-interactive EV charging infrastructure for the North American market. We operate as a focused product and engineering organization with strong strategic backing and are executing a major program to commercialize next-generation charging platforms at scale.

We are seeking a Director of Engineering & Program Execution to operate closely with the CTO as a tactical, technical execution leader. This is a builder role, not a process-only management role. We need someone who leads from the front, drives execution where the work happens, and ensures engineering commitments turn into delivered products.

You will be responsible for translating technical innovation into robust, manufacturable systems that meet real-world requirements for performance, certification, and production.

The Role

This role bridges R&D innovation and commercial delivery. You understand the engineering critical path and actively drive teams to meet it. You are not managing from slides or status trackers. You are present in the lab, at test benches, and at manufacturing interfaces, helping teams resolve issues and make decisions quickly.

You will translate strategic goals into executable plans and serve as a primary voice for execution, representing progress clearly and credibly to internal leadership, partners, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Program Leadership: Own execution across the full product lifecycle. Manage schedules by understanding engineering dependencies including thermal performance, firmware integration, certification, and manufacturing readiness, and by driving timely technical decisions.
  • Hands‑On Engineering Leadership: Align electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams around a unified execution plan. Be present in the lab and on the factory floor to remove blockers, resolve integration issues, and maintain momentum.
  • Program Governance & Stakeholder Management: Lead technical reviews, milestone demonstrations, and progress reporting. Manage relationships with key funding partners, customers, and internal stakeholders, demonstrating progress against technical, schedule, and compliance objectives.
  • NPI & Manufacturing Execution: Partner closely with Operations to ensure designs are ready for scale. Oversee technical handoff to manufacturing partners and ensure design intent is preserved through production ramp.
  • Risk & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify technical and execution risks and drive solutions before they impact delivery. Build a culture of accountability, urgency, and disciplined problem‑solving.
What We Are Looking For
  • Engineering Foundation: BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. You began your career designing hardware, power electronics, or complex systems and can engage deeply with engineers on technical details.
  • Execution Experience: 15+ years leading complex hardware development programs with a proven track record taking industrial, energy, or high‑power products from concept through certification and production.
  • Leadership Style: Lead by example, motivate technical teams, and communicate clearly across engineering, operations, and leadership. Translate technical challenges into actionable execution plans.
  • Executive Presence: Comfortable representing the company with customers, partners, and senior stakeholders, combining technical depth with clear, professional communication.
Why Join Imagen Energy
  • Leadership Impact: Be a core member of the leadership team shaping how the company executes and delivers complex hardware programs.
  • Meaningful Work: Directly lead the delivery of critical energy infrastructure with real scale and long‑term impact.
  • Autonomy: Have the authority to define how execution happens and how results are delivered.

If you are an execution‑focused engineering leader who thrives close to the product and the team, we want to hear from you.
