Bishop & Co. in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a Director of Engineering to oversee engineering, maintenance, and asset preservation for a large-scale resort property in Hawaiʻi.

This hands-on leadership role demands deep technical expertise and strong business acumen to support thousands of owners, guests, and team members in a demanding 24/7 environment. You will lead a high-performing team, manage capital projects, ensure OSHA and code compliance, and drive energy efficiency and guest experience

Qualifications

• Progressive leadership experience in engineering, facilities management, or resort/hospitality maintenance operations.
• Strong technical expertise across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, and life safety systems.
• Experience managing capital projects, preventative maintenance programs, and operational budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations across the resort.
• Oversee performance, maintenance, and reliability of critical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, life safety).
• Develop preventive maintenance programs to maximize asset life and efficiency.
• Direct capital improvement projects, renovations, and asset preservation initiatives.
• Ensure OSHA compliance, safety standards, building codes, and QA requirements.
• Manage emergency preparedness and business continuity efforts.
• Lead budget planning, forecasting, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Partner with operations and resort leadership to improve energy efficiency and performance.
• Build, mentor, and develop engineering teams with a culture of accountability and safety.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to meet objectives.
• Support labor relations, workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
