Job summary

ICE Clear Europe Limited is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the strategic technical vision for NYSE trading systems on the Pillar platform. This senior leadership role owns the architecture, design, and delivery of core systems powering NYSE Equity and Options markets.

You will lead multiple engineering teams, set long-term technical direction, and serve as the final authority on platform architecture, driving world-class reliability and low latency in a high-stakes trading environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with deep C/C++ on Linux.
• 5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role, managing multiple teams.
• Proven track record owning large-scale architecture for high performance, low latency platforms.
• Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance-oriented design.
• Hands-on with TCP/IP, Multicast, multithreading, and real-time systems.
• Experience with scripting and automation; AI-assisted coding tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end system architecture and technical roadmap for trading platform.
• Lead multiple engineering teams, mentor staff, and drive technical excellence.
• Define standards, patterns, and best practices across components.
• Partner with business and operations to translate objectives into technical plans.
• Manage budgets, vendor relations, and resource allocation.
• Drive reliability, incident management, and regulatory compliance.
