Responsibilities
  • Hire and build a globally-distributed engineering team. Build, mentor, and manage a team of talented cloud platform engineers. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Define and measure engineering OKRs.
  • Contribute to design and implementation in Java when needed, ensuring best practices and setting technical direction.
  • Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices. Provide technical guidance and thought leadership to the team.
  • Ensure the platform meets the highest standards of security, compliance, and data protection. Implement and maintain robust security measures and protocols.
  • Interface with customer success and implementation teams to resolve customer issues.
  • Participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation to help ensure the availability goals are met, by working with reliability engineers and development team members.
Required Qualifications
  • 8-12 years of experience in cloud platform design and development.
  • 8+ years of experience architecting and delivering large-scale cloud application platforms using Java, Spring Boot, and relational databases such as MySQL
  • 5+ years of experience leveraging observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus) to measure and improve platform adoption, performance, and reliability.
  • 5+ years of experience with data modeling and relational databases.
  • 3+ years of experience managing fully remote teams in a startup environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of a scalable cloud or mobile solution.
  • Demonstrated experience in timely delivery of a product to market with understanding on customer rollout.
  • Proven track record of using problem-solving / root cause analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Masters degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging industry-leading next-generation technology, including public cloud services.
  • 5+ years of experience leading scrum teams (as scrum master or other role).
