Job summary

Jobot in Boston is seeking an executive level engineering manager to drive business development in the commercial, healthcare and higher education space while leading day-to-day operations. This role offers a path to ownership and a strong compensation package.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in design/construction document production (Healthcare/Higher Education), PE licensure, and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

• Experience serving as Engineer of Record
• Professional Engineer licensure (PE) required

• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Bluebeam; ABET-accredited BS in Engineering; MS preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead milestone and final reviews of design deliverables for quality control
• Collaborate with Discipline Leads and Project Managers on drawings and specifications
• Identify and resolve errors or omissions in drawings and specs
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned
• Develop actionable plans to enhance project performance
• Oversee daily workload prioritization and resource allocations
• Forecast resource needs and coordinate recruitment or temporary staffing
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to optimize utilization and development
• Monitor weekly labor utilization to maximize productivity

Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 per year.

Job Details

• Actively engage in milestone and final reviews of design deliverables to ensure top-tier quality in all work products
• Collaborate closely with Discipline Leads and Project Managers to review and provide feedback on drawing sets and specifications
• Identify and resolve errors or omissions in drawings and specifications, promoting a culture of excellence within the Technical Delivery Team
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Gather input from Discipline Leaders and Project Managers to capture Lessons Learned from each project
• Develop and implement actionable plans for continuous improvement to enhance performance on future projects
• Workload & Productivity Management: Oversee daily workload prioritization for all projects, ensuring efficient project assignments and resource allocation
• Work with Discipline Leads and Project Managers to plan and manage workloads effectively
• Forecast resource needs and facilitate their acquisition, either temporarily from other offices or permanently through recruitment
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to optimize resource utilization, production quality, and professional development
• Monitor weekly labor utilization to maximize productivity and ensure project efficiency

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams (experience in Healthcare or Higher Education is preferred; additional experience in Life Sciences or Industrial markets is a plus)
• At least 15 years of experience in design and construction document production (preferably in Healthcare or Higher Education, with additional experience in Life Sciences or Industrial markets a plus)
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both team members and clients
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Bluebeam
• A BS degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (MS in a related field is preferred)
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
