Overview

Engineering Director - Critical Infrastructure Ready to lead mission-critical operations across a nearly 1M sq ft portfolio? We're seeking a dynamic Engineering Director to spearhead strategic operations and drive 100% uptime across our multi-state facilities in CT and NY, with exciting expansion ahead. This role offers leadership and hands-on technical responsibility as you manage critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, chiller plants, BMS, HVAC, generators, and ATSs while traveling weekly between sites. Ideal for a seasoned professional with Chief Engineer or senior critical infrastructure experience who thrives on optimizing legacy MEP systems and achieving operational excellence without major capital investment.

Responsibilities and activities
  • Management
  • Lead and support the engineering staff to develop a high-performing team
  • Develop critical environment protocols such as Method of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Support building operations through a highly integrated facilities management and engineering team to assure high infrastructure availability and client satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain a strategic plan for the engineering team aligned with JLL and client objectives, focusing on innovation and best practices, and create standard work for all engineering activities
  • Ensure consistent maintenance management practices across the account's portfolio and achievement of KPIs
  • Manage the on-account service center, security, data management, and EHS managers and teams; actively manage direct reports to meet or exceed contractual KPIs and earn incentive fees
  • Safety
  • Identify risks to client facilities and eliminate downtime
  • Implement and manage the computerized maintenance management systems in line with JLL and client expectations
  • Responsible for the JLL Engineering Services Compliance Program
  • Administer compliance with and reporting of applicable environmental health and safety programs
  • Training
  • Develop training programs based on needs from skills assessments and safety requirements
  • Administer technical skills assessments and the training program for facility engineering personnel
  • Ensure the account\'s sustainability/energy lead develops and implements the contractual energy management program, including efficiency guidelines, energy audits, and benchmarking; engage utility providers when necessary and manage relationships
  • Develop and implement standard processes for reporting energy, gas, water, and sewer consumption
  • Assist Strategic Sourcing in bidding, negotiations, and administration of regional or national contracts for technical products or services
Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering management role
  • Extensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression system knowledge of commercial/critical facilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with strong client-facing abilities
  • Strategic problem-solver with strong analytical capabilities, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects

Preferred

  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Compensation and location

Pay $140,000-160,000 with a 20% targeted bonus of the annual salary

This range is an estimate; final compensation depends on qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
