Job summary

The University of Notre Dame's Office of Human Resources seeks a Director of Employee Experience to lead strategy and programs that make staff feel valued, connected, and supported in alignment with the University's mission.

You will guide a team of Employee Experience Specialists, partner with campus leaders, and translate feedback into actionable improvements that strengthen engagement, retention, and the overall work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5–6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience consulting with and coaching employees and leaders.
• Experience navigating sensitive employee matters and facilitating difficult conversations with sound judgment and discretion.
• Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to translate ideas into action.
• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and work effectively across teams and functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Shape the Employee Experience strategy to align with NDHR and University goals and values.
• Guide and develop a team of Employee Experience Specialists with clear roles and priorities.
• Partner across Notre Dame to advise on culture, engagement, retention, performance, and workplace practices.
• Strengthen how employees and leaders are supported during difficult conversations and performance situations.
• Turn employee feedback and workforce data into meaningful recommendations and action plans.
• Design and advance initiatives that improve engagement, culture, and recognition, while simplifying processes.
