Job description

RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School are seeking a Director of Emergency General Surgery in Somerset, New Jersey.

The largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, RWJBarnabas Health, and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Somerset, New Jersey, are looking for a dynamic, full-time Director of Emergency General Surgery (EGS). The candidate will also serve as the Program Director of the Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. RWJUH, the flagship academic hospital of the RWJBH system, is a Level 1 Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons. It is a world-class, patient-centered, academic medical center renowned for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research, and medical education.

Responsibilities include overseeing operational, strategic, and administrative tasks, such as quality improvement initiatives, patient education, curriculum development, and policy enhancement to improve the efficiency and outcomes of the EGS service line. The director will mentor fellows, residents, APPs, and medical students, working closely with a team of fifteen acute care surgeons covering trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. Collaboration with the Rutgers Acute Care Surgery Research lab to support research activities is also expected.
