In addition to staff development, this role also provides meaningful learning opportunities for families, community partners, and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of shared knowledge, collaboration, and engagement. The Director works to ensure that all learning experiences—whether for internal staff or external partners—are aligned with district goals, promote educational equity, and strengthen partnerships that contribute to student success and agency.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, direct, implement, and supervise professional development, to include, at a minimum, overseeing the teacher induction program, new employee onboarding and mentoring opportunities (classified, certified, and administration), and ongoing job-embedded professional development for certificated and classified staff
- Ensure special training initiatives, and mandated training are high-quality and meet all compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with building and district leaders to create differentiated mentoring programs aimed at growing and retaining staff new to Colorado Springs School District 11.

- Provide a targeted Professional Development plan for the District that supports the District’s mission, vision and District strategic goals
- Regularly consult, collaborate, and partner with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Directors of Academic Success, and Executive Director of Student Pathways to provide/lead intentional and targeted learning opportunities that result in growth for teachers, leaders, students, and stakeholders.
- Provide support to schools in the implementation of quality professional development aligned with school improvement plans
- Evaluate the effectiveness of professional development opportunities by collecting, analyzing, and utilizing a variety of data points, including participant feedback, implementation evidence, student achievement/growth outcomes, and staff performance indicators to inform continuous improvement and future professional learning outcomes.
- Market and communicate professional development opportunities via a variety of channels
- Maintain accurate systems for tracking participation, monitoring completion of professional learning credits or hours, and generating reports to support compliance and planning.
- Assist employees on re-licensure guidelines and arranges for re-licensure hours for those employees attending professional development activities
- Oversee, manage, and review the professional development budget to align with district needs
- Oversee purchasing and maintenance of professional development materials and equipment at the District’s professional development center
- Oversee program administration and budget management for Title IIA funds
- Oversee an electronic database containing records of professional development opportunities
- Supervise employees as assigned
- Serve as the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) for selected outsourced professional development services.
- Manage and oversee District wide contracted learning opportunities to ensure alignment with district goals and compliance with contract requirements.
- Monitor vendor performance, confirm timely delivery of agreed-upon services and materials, and ensure all work is completed within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to track expenditures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES- Deep understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design, and effective professional development models.
- Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies related to teacher development, induction, detailing, and professional learning requirements and systems.
- Knowledge of federal grant Title IIA rules, regulations, and requirements
- Knowledge of community engagement practices, effective communication with diverse stakeholder groups, and how family and community engagement intersect with educational Success.
- Understanding of how to design, implement, and evaluate learning programs using both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Knowledge of how to leverage technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance professional learning, support personalized development, and engage diverse learners in meaningful ways.
- Ability to design, coordinate, and implement the delivery of learning opportunities that meet identified and aligned professional development needs
- Ability to effectively facilitate groups
- Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of modalities with diverse audiences, including staff, administrators, families, and community partners.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with individuals and groups across diverse roles, backgrounds, and perspectives.

QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or Curriculum and Instruction (or related field)
- Appropriate state certification for supervision and evaluation of certified staff
- Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in education, including experience as a classroom teacher
- Classroom and/or school level experience
- Preferred experience in supervising and managing professional development opportunities- preferred
- Preferred experience in an educational leadership role at Central Office

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PDF:Per approval by the Board of Education: All Executive Professional employees shall be allocated $1500 annually towards a Professional Development Fund (PDF). PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND.Mileage:Per annual approval by the Board of Education: Employees shall be reimbursed at the rate established by the Board when a privately owned automobile is required to be used in the performance of official duty.
