Schedule: Standard Hours 8-4 with potential later hours dependent on needs of student and team.

Position Summary

The Director of Education provides day-to-day academic leadership for assigned programs. Supervised by the Dean of Education, this role owns the operational health of those programs: the performance and development of program directors and faculty, student retention and progression, curricular currency, and compliance with accreditation standards and related regulatory requirements. While the Dean of Education focuses on new program development and institutional innovation, the Director of Education ensures operational effectiveness and academic excellence of existing programs— students supported, faculty engaged, outcomes met, and audits passed.

What You’ll Do

Faculty & Program Director Leadership

• Serve as the direct supervisor of program directors and adjunct faculty, including hiring input, coaching, corrective action, and formal performance evaluations.
• Monitor faculty engagement across on-ground, hybrid, and online courses (responsiveness, grading timeliness, LMS activity, student interaction) and act early on gaps.
• Plan and lead regular faculty meetings; ensure decisions are documented and followed through.
• Ensure required professional development and in-service training is scheduled, completed, and documented for accreditation.
• Mentor and develop faculty with a focus on student-centered teaching.

Student Success & Retention

• Own retention outcomes programs: track leading indicators, identify at-risk students, and drive
  intervention strategies including one-on-one engagement.
• Conduct and document individualized education plan (IEP) reviews and academic progress
  interventions.
• Administer the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) process: place students on SAP status, monitor their progress against improvement plans, and document outcomes in accordance with institutional policy, accreditation standards, and financial aid requirements.
• Resolve escalated student and admissions-related academic issues (enrollment status, transfer credit, program placement, re-entry).
• Serve as the first formal step for student academic grievances, grade appeals, and academic integrityissues; ensure timely resolution and documentation consistent with institutional policy and ABHEScomplaint-handling requirements. Support externships, labs, and clinicals to prepare students for career success.

Compliance, Accreditation & Reporting

• Maintain continuous compliance with ABHES accreditation standards and applicable state and federal requirements for all legacy programs.
• Own the quarterly Program Effectiveness Plan (PEP) reporting cycle: data collection, analysis, action planning, and documentation for each program.
• Administer and maintain student, graduate, and employer satisfaction survey data; analyze results and report findings to the Dean of Education, within the PEP, and to accreditors as required.
• Ensure each legacy program’s advisory board convenes as required by ABHES, with agendas, attendance, and minutes documented and actionable feedback fed into curriculum review.
• Maintain current, signed affiliation agreements for all externship and clinical sites, and ensure site records remain audit-ready.
• Monitor graduate placement outcomes with Career Services; investigate and correct placement-rates shortfalls and ensure accurate, verifiable placement documentation.
• Keep faculty files, credentials, and program records survey-ready at all times; support accreditation self-studies, site visits, and responses to findings.

Curriculum & Program Operations

• Ensure curricular maintenance: currency of syllabi, textbooks, equipment lists, and course content against industry and accreditation standards.
• Partner with Career Services, advisory boards, and employers to keep programs aligned with workforce needs.
• Coordinate scheduling, course coverage, and instructional resources across programs; provide emergency instructional coverage when needed to protect continuity of instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the academic mission.

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree required (education, healthcare, or related field preferred).
• 3+ years of academic leadership or management experience, including direct supervision of faculty or program leaders.
• 3+ years of teaching experience (postsecondary, career, or clinical education preferred).
• Experience at an ABHES-, ACCSC-, or COE-accredited institution strongly preferred; familiarity with Program Effectiveness Plans, retention/placement reporting, and accreditation site visits is a significant advantage.
• Working knowledge of student-success operations: satisfactory academic progress, individualized education plans, and retention interventions.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; comfortable having direct performance conversations.
• Comfort with technology and non-traditional learning modalities; experience teaching or supervising online/hybrid instruction preferred.
• Flexibility to support students and faculty — even outside of normal hours.
