Title: Regional Director of Distribution

Position Summary:
The Regional Director of Distribution is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all distribution activities within the designated region. This role encompasses overseeing distribution centers, inventory management, logistics, transportation, personnel, and administration. The successful candidate will drive efficiency, ensure timely delivery, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while managing costs effectively.
Lead Responsibilities:
- Distribution Center Oversight:Manage and optimize the operations of regional distribution centers, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and dispatch of products.
- Implement and maintain best practices for site layout, flow, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.
- Inventory Management:Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize obsolescence.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Forecast demand and collaborate with sales and purchasing teams to ensure adequate product availability.
- Logistics & Transportation Oversight:Manage and optimize all transportation activities, including inbound and outbound shipments.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with transportation providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable delivery services.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics and transportation.
- Optimize delivery routes and schedules.
- Personnel Management:Recruit, train, and manage distribution center and logistics personnel.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Resolve employee issues.
- Administration Oversight:Manage budgets and control operating expenses for the distribution function.
- Prepare and present regular reports on distribution performance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Implement and utilize distribution and inventory management software.
- Strategic Planning & Execution:Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve distribution efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
- Travel:Regular travel within the designated region to visit distribution centers, meet with personnel, and address operational issues.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role within a distribution or logistics environment.
- Proven experience in managing distribution centers, inventory, and transportation.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles and practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using distribution and inventory management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel extensively within the designated region.
- Regional Distribution Center experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in the building materials industry, specifically with stone or tile, is a plus.
