Job Summary

The Director of Dining Services is an exciting leadership role for an energetic, entrepreneurial manager seeking continuous improvement. The director is responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services, ensuring client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management. Responsibilities include all food service activities such as retail, cafeteria, catering, quality improvement, sanitation, and client relations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage salaried managers and hourly associates in the Food Service Department
  2. Oversee overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account
  3. Interview, hire, train staff; plan, assign, and supervise work; evaluate performance; handle rewards, discipline, and complaints
  4. Prepare and manage the annual budget
  5. Utilize company systems for reporting on inventory, cash, production, payroll, etc.
  6. Oversee food and beverage preparation, presentation, sanitation, safety (HACCP, OSHA), and portion control
  7. Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Food Services Technology/Management or related; or A.A. plus 4 years related experience
  • 5-7 years of direct food service management experience, including inventory and purchasing
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, sanitation, food cost controls, presentation
  • Previous P&L or contract-managed service experience preferred
  • Leadership, supervisory, coaching skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Financial, budgeting, and accounting skills
  • Proficient in computer programs, Microsoft Office, email, internet
  • ServSafe Certified
